The Media Training Center at the Ministry of Information seeks to enhance the professional competence of journalists and media professionals working across all print, audio, visual and electronic media. It also provides training services to employees of various units within the State’s Administrative Apparatus, in addition to offering specialised training programmes for media institutions in the private sector and internship opportunities for students from higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Centre carries out all functions necessary to achieve its objectives, including:

Organising theoretical and practical training courses and programmes in all fields of media work.

Assessing the training needs of information and communication departments across the State’s Administrative Apparatus, and developing the skills of their personnel.

Providing training services to private-sector media and press institutions, and qualifying the journalists and media professionals employed therein.

Training students from higher education institutions to prepare them for careers in the media field in line with labour-market requirements.

Strengthening cooperation and exchanging training expertise in the field of media with counterpart institutions in other countries.
